Annual Spring Recital (June)

Scarsdale Ballet Studio offers the exciting opportunity for all students Age 4+ to perform with their classes in our annual Recital at the end of the Spring season. We also offer our adult students the opportunity to perform! Some key information:

The Recital date is on the Studio Calendar (under Schedule & Registration). It is typical the Sunday following the last day of classes.

We charge a costume fee or costume rental fee for each student to cover cost for ordering the costumes. The cost is posted in the Tuition schedule on the Schedule & registration page.

As of Spring 2025 we needed to change our policy for participation in the recital. We can no longer cover the increasing cost for theater rental, logistics and teacher fees without charging a recital fee. The cost is posted in the Tuition Schedule on the Schedule & registration page.

Tickets for the show are typically on sale a few weeks before the recital through our registration app.

Immersive Nutcracker Winter Wonderland Party

Our “Scarsdale Ballet’s Nutcracker Wonderland Party” is an immersive journey designed specifically for our youngest ballet enthusiasts ages 3-7.

The vent happens in early December, at our studios in White Plains. Tickets will be available for purchase in early November.

We will transform our studios into the magical world of the Nutcracker, guiding our special guests—children ages 3-7—through the Party Scene, the Snow Scene, and the Land of Sweets. Our older dancers will perform excerpts, and guests will have a chance to participate in the dances, ride Clara’s sleigh, and take photos with the Sugar Plum Fairy!

Participation in The Nutcracker is for Ages 3-7.

Dancers in Conservatory and Conservatory Pro levels will be cast in featured roles, including Clara, Dolls, the Snow Queen, Sugar Plum, and many more. No dancer participation fee to be part of this event.

Preparation and rehearsals run weekly/sometimes twice a week from September through to the Competition in March. Additional rehearsals may be called to prepare for the recital.

Participation requires weekly additional private lessons (teachers set their own rate) + studio rental fee.

All Competition fees are in addition to private lessons. In 2024 he competition fees were $125 to register, plus $120 per solo or $60 per person for an ensemble piece.

YAGP jacket (optional) $60, sourced and purchased by SBS.

Costumes are sourced and rented/purchased by families in consultation with their teacher.

Travel to competition is paid for by the family including any overnight stays if needed.

If a teacher has to travel to the competition, families may be asked to assist with teacher expenses.

The YAGP NY competition is usually the last week of Feb/Beginning of March. We have also participated in the Boston competition in January. Fees are paid per venue so 2 venues, double the fees.

Participation in Competitions

Participation in YAGP to represent this studio is by invitation only.  The recommendation is made by the SBS teacher with approval by the Director. If a student/family is interested, they can ask a teacher for advice and information. Here is some information about the format and the cost. Please keep in mind that that participation in YAGP requires commitment and dedication.
