Why Scarsdale Ballet Studio is Unique
The premier dance school for the study of authentic classical ballet.
Renowned since 1992 for our professional and supportive atmosphere, our mission is to teach the skills of classical ballet technique and to share the physical, intellectual and emotional benefits of dancing throughout life.
All Scarsdale Ballet Studio students, from pre-school through teen and adult years, receive that same high level of attention and guidance, regardless of their professional or recreational aspirations. Every class is taught by a professionally experienced teacher of the highest caliber to nurture healthy, technically accomplished, versatile ballet dancers.
Through performing opportunities, including The Nutcracker and a spring concert, we encourage dancers to explore the full range of their artistic abilities. Students work on a regular basis with renowned New York City-based master coaches and choreographers and have an opportunity unique in Westchester: to learn and perform choreography of the legendary George Balanchine.
Scarsdale Ballet Studio dancers are high achievers who have reaped the many holistic benefits of formal dance training: physical fitness, confidence, self-discipline, focus, collaborative skills, and lasting friendships.
Our brand-new facility with spacious, professional studios and sprung Marley floors, is conveniently located in the heart of Westchester at 10 County Center Road, just off Rte 287, the Bronx River Parkway, and Central Park Avenue, next door to the Westchester County Center. Ample free parking is on-site.

MEET THE FOUNDER & ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Ms. Diana White
Ms. Diana White was born in Park Ridge, Illinois and began her ballet training with local instructors when she was four years old. At the age of 14, she became a member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago Ballet, then under the direction of Maria Tallchief. There, she was seen by George Balanchine, who awarded her a scholarship to the School of American Ballet. He invited her to join the New York City Ballet one year later.
During her twenty-year career at New York City Ballet she worked closely with Balanchine and Jerome Robbins. Her repertoire included principal roles in works by both masters, including Balanchine’s Apollo, The Four Temperaments, Western Symphony, Serenade, Liebeslieder Walzer, and Jewels, as well as Robbins’ Dances at a Gathering, The Cage, Goldberg Variations, Moves, a ballet in silence which was revived in 1987 especially for her, and many more. The year she was promoted to soloist, Peter Martins created a principal role for her in his ballet The Waltz Project. Ms. White toured internationally with New York City Ballet and as a guest artist with other companies. She has appeared several times on public television’s Live From Lincoln Center, and Great Performances.
