The Faculty of Scarsdale Ballet Studio
INDAH BOYLE is a welcome addition to our faculty. She studied and performed many forms of dance in the US as well as in several foreign countries, including Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Spain, and Canada. She is an emerging choreographer in the New York City dance community. Indah received her BFA from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase, where among her ballet teachers were Bettijane Sills of the NYC Ballet, and Ted Kivitt and Rosanna Seravalli of American Ballet Theater. As a modern dancer, she has performed the works of such choreographers as Bill T. Jones, Doug Varone, and Monica Bill Barnes.
DAVID FERNANDEZ studied ballet in his native Mexico City and then on scholarship at Giordano Jazz Dance and the Boitsov Classical Ballet School in Chicago. He performed with the Boitsov, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Ballet Theater of Chicago. He has taught throughout the tri-state area, and participated in two outreach programs, Eliot Feld’s Ballet Tech, bringing ballet to NYC’s public schools, and American Ballet Theater’s Make a Ballet program. KIMBERLY GIANNELLI, who continues to dance professionally, began her ballet training at the Scarsdale Ballet Studio. She has studied with some of the most prominent teachers in the NYC area and currently performs with Classics Dance Theater, the Mantis Project, which was featured in this year’s “Choreographer’s Canvas” at the Hudson Guild Theater, and the Eidolon Ballet. She is also at work with performers from the Cirque du Soleil on a new Romeo and Juliet-inspired project for that company. A member of the Studio’s faculty for the last four years, Kimberly has taught extensively in the Westchester area. She holds a B.A. in psychology from Manhattanville College. VIRGINIA H. HONNEUS studied dance and theatre at Stephens College and the Yale School of Drama, where her teacher was Pearl Lang. She continued her ballet studies in New York City with many noted teachers including Gabriela Darvash and David Howard. In Westchester, she has performed as a modern dancer with groups throughout the county, and danced principal roles in Carousel, Evita, The King and I, and Man of La Mancha. In New York City, she has performed at the 92nd Street Y and Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall. She has taught children and adult ballet classes in Scarsdale, Chappaqua and Pound Ridge. Ms. Honneus is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
SIMEON KAZANTSEV was a member of the Boston Ballet and the Moscow Stanislavsky Ballet in Russia. He graduated from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy with a degree in Ballet and Pedagogy from Moscow Choreographic Institute and was the teaching assistant to Professor Alexander Bondarenko. He has taught at the Briansky Saratoga Ballet and has been on the faculty of the studio since 2006.
RENEE LAVERDIERE trained at The National Academy of Arts and was a scholarship student at the Joffrey School in New York City. She danced under the direction of Edward Villella at the Eglevsky Ballet as well as in the New Jersey Ballet and the New World Ballet. She has been teaching in Manhattan and Westchester for the last fifteen years
MARIA POSEY, Master Teacher of Creative Ballet, was a member of the corps de ballet at Radio City Music Hall, the Kansas City Opera, and the Philadelphia Opera. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Education and a Master's Degree in Counseling and Development. She has taught at the Studio since 1992.
PEDRO RUIZ, a native of Cuba, was a Principal Dancer with Ballet Hispanico in New York and is now an acclaimed choreographer whose works have been commissioned by the Joffrey Ballet, the Ailey School and others. He is the recipient of the New York dance world’s highest honor, the Bessie Award. Mr. Ruiz is a much sought-after Master Teacher of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. ROSEMARY SAUR began her training at Bush Davies School in England and has danced professionally for many years with the Irsaeli Classical Ballet, Bat Dor Dance Company, and Mainz Staatstheater. She completed a teaching diploma at the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in England, and also holds a Dance Educators of America certification in tap, modern, jazz, theatrical acrobatics, and ballet.
ELLEN SHEA was trained at the School of American Ballet. She performed with the Chatauqua Festival Ballet and with the Ballet Theater of Boston while studying architecture on scholarship at MIT where she earned a BSAD and an M. Arch. She has been teaching at the Scarsdale Ballet Studio for the last five years.
FRONDA SOBEL was a member of the Metropolitan Opera Ballet. She also appeared with the Bolshoi Ballet, the Royal Ballet, and on the television series, Omnibus, under choreographer, Agnes De Mille. She has choreographed ten musicals and has extensive experience teaching all levels of jazz and ballet in Westchester.
JENNIFER TINSLEY-WILLIAMS, a native of Dallas, TX, moved to New York City as a teenager after being accepted into the School of American Ballet. Two years later, she was invited to become a member of the New York City Ballet. Her career with the company spanned eighteen years, the last nine years as a soloist. Some of Jennifer’s most memorable roles included the Lilac Fairy in Peter Martins’ Sleeping Beauty, Hermia in George Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and principal roles in Balanchine’s Symphony in Three Movements, Agon, and Western Symphony. She has worked with such esteemed choreographers as Jerome Robbins, Peter Martins, Christopher Wheeldon and Eliot Feld. Jennifer’s film and television credits include George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker and Live from Lincoln Center. Jennifer has taught at numerous schools, most notably the School of American Ballet and New York State Summer School of The Arts. She is currently a teaching artist with New York City Ballet’s education department.
